On-duty nurse tests positive for Covid-19 in Dhemaji

Guwahati: As the fight against the spread of the coronavirus enters a critical phase, a nurse deployed at the Dhemaji Civil Hospital has tested positive for the dreaded Covid-19.

As per the district Health department, she is believed to have contracted the virus from a quarantine centre where she was engaged for some days.

The nurse's swab sample was collected on Monday, June 22, and reported positive on Wednesday on June 24.

It has been reported that Health officials said those coming into close contact with the nurse would be sent for testing.

Notably, the Health Department of the district examined 6,756 samples, out of which 122 have been found COVID-19 positive.

It is to be mentioned that the authority has sealed Dhemaji Civil Hospital for three days as a preventive measure to control the spread of Covid-19 among the health staff and hospital patients.
