On occasion of Abirbhav Tithi of Mahapurush Srimanta Sankardev, Dihanam competition held at Sootea

JAMUGURIHAT: On the occasion of the 575th Abirbhav Tithi of Mahapurush Srimanta Sankardev, Dihanam competition and Sankari culture competitions were organized by the Sootea regional committee of Srimanta Sankardev Nam Dharma Samaj in collaboration with No 1 Nalbari branch of Srimanta Sankardev Nam Dharma Samaj on Monday at Sootea. The day-long programme began with hoisting of the religious pennant by Dharma Kanta Saikia, president of Sootea regional committee of Srimanat Sankardev Namdharma Samaj in the morning followed by nam prasanga.

Mohan Bora and Prabin Rajbanshi graced the event as judges of dihanam and Sankari culture competition. The women team of Bebejia secured the first position in the Dihanam competition while the women team of Charaijania village bagged the second position on the contrary the women teams of Borpam Tiniali and No 1 Nalbari secured the third position jointly. Similarly, Punamjyoti Medhi, Borpam bagged the first position in the Sankari dance competition while Bhagyashree Devi, Nalbari and Banya Saikia, Magurmari secured second and the third positions, respectively. Sootea MLA Padma Hazarika graced the occasion as a chief guest.
