KOKRAJHAR: In a bid to implement the Cigarette and Other Tobacco Products Act, 2003 and to make a tobacco-free society in the district, the Chirang district administration organized a one-day District-level Law Enforcement Training under the chairmanship of Rahul Gupta, Additional Deputy Commissioner and in-charge Subdivisional Officer (Civil), Bijni, in the conference hall of the District Centre, Kajalgaon on Tuesday.
The training was held in two sessions where Joint Director, Health Services Dr Dwigendra Ramchiary delivered the welcome address, District Nodal Officer of District Tobacco Control Cell (DTCC) Dr Raju Kumar Das and State Project Manager of State Tobacco Control Cell (STCC) Mrinal Medhi spoke on burden of tobacco and tobacco cessation and various sections of the Cigarette and Other Tobacco Products Act (COTPA), 2003 respectively.
In his speech, Rahul Gupta, Subdivisional Officer (Civil), Bijni asked the officials concerned to strictly enforce the Cigarette and Other Tobacco Products Act, 2003 in the field level so as to make Chirang district tobacco-free. Deputy Superintendent Police, officials of health and other departments, principals of various schools and colleges were also present in the training.
