Tamulpur: One youth was killed and another seriously injured in a road accident at about 1.15 pm on Monday at Barkhata on 127(D) Rangia-Tamulpur - Bhutan international link road under Tamulpur police station in the district of Baksa. The deceased person has been identified as Jayanta Patowary (26), son of Dilip Patowary of village Jayantipur under Rangia Police Station in the district of Kamrup.

According to police, Jayanta was coming from Rangia towards Tamulpur riding a bike bearing registration number AS-01-BN-8167 with a student of Class VIII of Sankardev Bidya Niketon Rangia named Himangshu Deka (13), son of Munindra Deka of Murara under Rangia police station. While they reached Barkhata, the bike collided with another bike bearing registration number AS - 01 -Y - 4850 and the accident took place. Due to the accident, the other bike rider Merajul Islam (37) of Hajo under Kamrup district and Jayanta Patowary were seriously injured.

Receiving information, a team from Tamulpur Police Station rushed to the spot and recovered the bike riders in serious condition. Both of them were shifted to Tamulpur PHC by police and local people. Himangshu Deka was safe. After clinical examination, the doctor declared Jayanta dead. After providing primary treatment, Merajul Islam was referred to as GMCH. Jayanta worked for a drug distributor of Rangia. His body was sent for post-mortem.
