One dead in bike-truck collision at NH 31 in Bongaigaon district

BONGAIGAON: A person died in a tragic road mishap that occurred at NH 31 at Boitamari area of Bongaigaon district on Sunday. The victim has been identified as Birendra Sutradhar (40), a resident of Boitamari. As per eyewitness, Birendra was coming towards North Salmara by a bike (AS-19-F- 7189) at around 12 noon and collided with a high speed truck (UP-74-T-5754) going towards Dhubri. A police source said that Birendra died on the spot but the truck managed to flee from the spot taking advantage of low traffic on road. "As the number plate of the truck fell on the road, it was traced easily. Police nabbed the truck at Chapar area of Dhubri. The body has been sent for postmortem," said a police source.
