One hacked to death, another injured at Hansora Tea Estate, Doomdooma

TINSUKIA: Following minor skirmishes in a football ground, one person was hacked to death and another seriously injured at Hansora Tea Estate under Doomdooma PS on Sunday evening.

The irate mob from the same garden set ablaze the quarter of the alleged killers. According to reports, Jugnu Tanti (18) and Ritwik Sharma (19) were allegedly attacked by father-son duo Romen Tikka (40) and Thomas Tikka (18) with a machete. While Jugnu died on the spot, Ritwik sustained grievous injuries. After minor altercation on the football ground, Thomas returned hurriedly to his quarter located at No 12 Line and brought his father along. The situation, though tense, was brought under control by OC Doomdooma PS, Dibyajyoti Dutta. The agitated garden workers demanded suitable compensation from the government and management of the garden- Apeejay Tea Company- as Jugnu was the sole bread earner of the family.
