One Killed in Wild Elephant Attack in Tamulpur, Assam

Tamulpur: Sensation prevailed after a person was killed by a wild elephant at Nagrijuli Tea Estate on Monday. The deceased person has been identified as Raghu Munda alias Ajay Munda (45). Raghu was coming towards his residence in No 6 line of Nagrijuli Tea Estate on a bicycle when one isolated wild elephant, named Laden by people, attacked him. Raghu died on spot. Nikhil Singha, in-charge of Nagrijuli police outpost rushed to the spot and recovered the body. The body was taken to Nagrijuli police outpost. People showed their resentment against forest officials.

On Monday, members of organizations like ATTSA, AASAA and ACMS met forest officials and charged them for negligence of duty. “If senior forest officials do not come to Nagrijuli and give assurance to provide safety to people, we will not receive the body after post-mortem,” said local people. Moreover, they will also call greater Nagrijuli bandh as a mark of protest against forest officials.
