One killed, one seriously injured in road accident at Laupara

BAKSA: One youth was killed and one seriously injured on Thursday morning at about 5.30 AM in a road mishap on the Tamulpur-Nagrijuli-Udalguri road under Tamulpur subdivision in the district of Baksa.

The deceased youth has been identified as Sanjay Prasad (29) and the injured youth as Biswajit Kurmi (24) of Suwala Tea Estate under Udalguri district. According to Kailash Malakar, in-charge of Nagrijuli Police Outpost, Sanjay and Biswajit were coming from Suwal Tea Estate towards Rangia for some official work on a motorcycle bearing registration number AS-27-A-2272. While they reached Laupara, the motorcycle hit a dumper from behind.

Sanjay Prasad died on the spot while Biswajit was seriously injured. Receiving the information, Kailash Malakar rushed to the spot and recovered the body of Sanjay. Police shifted Biswajit to Nagrijuli Model Hospital with the help of local people. After providing primary treatment, Biswajit was sent to GMCH for better treatment. Police sent the body of Sanjay to Mushalpur for post-mortem.

In the last 30 days, many accidents have taken place on the newly-constructed Tamulpur-Nagrijuli-Udalguri road and more than three people have died.
