LAKHIMPUR: One more fatality due to COVID-19 infection was reported in Lakhimpur. The deceased person has been identified as Chandra Hazarika (59), resident of Garumuriya village under Boginadi Block Primary Health Centre area. He breathed his last at home on Friday and tested positive for COVID-19 after his death. A source of the District Health Department stated that no COVID-19 symptoms had been seen in him before he died.

On the other hand, the community contagion of the novel coronavirus still continues in various parts of the district. As a result of it, a total of 115 fresh COVID-19 cases were detected in the district on Friday. Out of them 113 cases were detected as per the results of the Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) and 2 cases were reported as per Reverse Transcription Polymerase Chain Reaction (RTPCR) Test. On this day, the District Health Department conducted the RAT upon altogether 3,468 persons in eight COVID-19 Test Centres across the district. The detected cases were reported from North Lakhimpur Urban Hospital (6), Dhalpur BPHC (9), Bihpuriya BPHC (9), Naoboicha BPHC (20), Boginadi BPHC (40), Dhakuakhana BPHC (4), Lakhimpur Medical College and Hospital Respiratory Clinic (24) and Private Nursing Homes (2). The Health Department of the district registered 101 per cent achievement in conducting the RAT in order to detect COVID-19 patients out of the targeted figure 3,430. With these fresh patients, the cumulative total of COVID-19 cases of the district has hiked to 11,942 since April 4 of the last year.
