One shot dead at Dhansiri in Karbi Anglong

HOWRAGHAT: One person was shot dead along the Assam-Nagaland border at Dhansiri in Karbi Anglong on Wednesday night. The incident took place at Daijungpha village under Dhansiri police station.

According to report, two persons with arms entered the residence of one Sanjay Ronghang and he was asked to drop them at the Assam-Nagaland border. The two armed militants opened fire at him from a short distance as soon as he refused to drop them in the border area.

Meanwhile, police rushed to the spot promptly after they received the report of the incident. According to reports, an operation was carried out by the police and paramilitary forces jointly along the border areas. Exchange of fire was reported between the operation team and the militants. One militant is suspected to have been injured during the exchange of fire, sources said.
