ONGC installs sanitary napkin vending machines in Sivasagar district

SIVASAGAR: ONGC, in association with Sivasagar district administration, installed sanitary napkin vending machines with incinerators in 18 girl schools of the district. The napkins are charged very nominally when compared to the commercially available ones.

A periodic awareness talk was also held in the school by the health educators. ONGC, Assam Asset in association with Sivasagar district administration, conceptualized Project Sakhi. The project was formally inaugurated by the then State Power Minister Topon Kumar Gogoi on August 28, 2018. The initiative was aimed at providing easily accessible sanitary napkins at an affordable cost as a measure to overcome medical and social taboos associated with feminine personal hygiene.
