SIVASAGAR: After two years of halt due to the COVID-19 pandemic, ONGC's Assam Asset is once again gearing up to celebrate the Rongali Bihu festival by hosting Basanta Utsav-2022 at the ONGC Colony here with a three-day programme from April 22.

In this regard, an organizing committee has been formed with RK Sharma, Executive Director & Asset Manager, ONGC, Assam Asset as chief patron, RN Satish Babu, GGM as president, M Ganeshan, GM (HR) as working president and Sanjib Baruah, general secretary of ONGC's Purvanchal Employees' Association as general secretary.

Addressing a press meet on Monday at the Officers' Club, ONGC Colony Sanjib Baruah said that to celebrate the festival two Bihu workshops will be organized from April 1 to 3 at Nazira and Sivasagar under the aegis of ONGC's Assam Asset, in collaboration with Employees' Welfare Committee of ONGC. Baruah informed that a procession will be taken out, showcasing the cultural mosaic of different ethnic tribes of this region on April 22. Various artists will perform at the cultural programme, including heartthrob of Assam Zubeen Garg and Diplina Deka on April 24.

Various competitions like Husori, Jeng Bihu, Bihuwati, etc will also be hosted during the three days of Basanta Utsav and a sum of Rs 8,80,000 has been fixed as prize money for the all the competitions, said Baruah.

Earlier, before addressing the media, the organizing committee welcomed the newly-selected general secretary of the Sibsagar Press Club, Khalilur Rahman Hazarika, senior journalist Anamuddin Ahmed and other mediapersons with phulam gamushas.
