LAKHIMPUR: The online camp 'Ek Bharat Shresth Bharat - IV' started from Monday for the NCC cadets of the north-eastern region, West Bengal and Sikkim Directorates. A total of 250 Associate NCC Officers (ANO) and cadets will be attending the six-day long camp which will conclude on November 7.

In this regard, Colonel Jitendra Kumar, who is the CO of 63 Assam Batalion, NCC Dibrugarh, informed The Sentinel that NCC had been making continuous efforts to ensure that training of cadets does not get stalled due to the COVID-19 pandemic situation. "National level or inter-State level camps are not possible in the current state, hence to tide over the limitations online training methods are being utilized," he added.

As part of this initiative NCC Group Headquarters, Dibrugarh, on behalf of NCC Directorate Shillong, will conduct an online Ek Bharat Shresth Bharat camp for NCC cadets of North Eastern Region (NER) and West Bengal and Sikkim Directorates. The camp will be conducted through a webinar using Google Meet G suite platform. The theme of the camp is Swachata and toy making in the Northeast which will be conducted by way of presentations, discussions and interactions to showcase the history, geography, tourism, cuisines and cultural heritage of all the various States of the Northeast, West Bengal and Sikkim.

The aim of online Ek Bharat Shresth Bharat Saptah will be to foster the spirit of national integration and solidarity by overcoming cultural, religious, geographical, environmental and linguistic barriers. While the aspects of bonding, peer learning, team building and thrill of physically seeing the natural, cultural and geographical beauty cannot be replaced through online camp, maximum endeavour will be made to overcome the shortcomings by showing videos on various aspects of the region. The highlights of this camp will be cultural exchange, including dances, festivals celebrated, group discussions and live interaction between cadets of both directorates. Major General AnantBhuyan, Sena Medal, ADG NER, Shillong gave the opening address to all the participants of this camp. The General Officer during his address exhorted the cadets to learn maximum during the six-day camp through the online interactive sessions which would be conducted by cadets from various States.
