MORIGAON: Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal on Monday participated in the mammoth public meeting held at Gandhi Bhavan Playground in Morigaon and called on the people to vote for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidates in the Tiwa Autonomous Council (TAC) election for rapid development of the areas.
Saying that the BJP-led State Government came to power in 2016 on the basis of trust and faith of all small and big communities in the State, Sonowal stated that identity, prestige, language and literature of all communities had been protected of all communities by the BJP-led State Government in the last four years and their equal development had been achieved.
He also said that BJP did not indulge in low-level politics like the Congress and during its 55 years' rule in both the Centre and the State, the Congress did not work for unifying the people of Barak-Brahmaputra valleys, plains and hills of the State as its time was marred by corruption and misrule. For that reason, BJP was welcomed by the people and the BJP had become successful in living up to people's expectations.
Saying that only BJP could ensure equal development of all communities in TAC areas along with Tiwa people, Sonowal said that rapid economic development would be brought by BJP in the area as not a single family of the 70 lakh families in the country remained hungry in its tenure. He highlighted schemes like PMAY, free rice distribution, free text book, free admission and hostel mess fee waiver along with KushalKonwar Pension Universal Old Age Pension, Arundhati. The BJP-State Government has worked for preservation of legacy of heroes and great personalities of all communities in the State, he added.
Sonowal also informed about giving monetary aid of Rs 60,000 annually to Gova Kingdom, Khola Kingdom and Dimoria Kingdom and he announced that Rs 1 lakh would be provided from next year onwards to them. He said these steps had been taken for preservation of cultural heritage of all communities and he asserted that the State Government was working for making JonbilMela a world-class tourist attraction.
Minister of State for Health Pijush Hazarika, MLA Ramakanta Deori, MP Haren Singh Be, alon with several other dignitaries were present in the programme.
