LAKHIMPUR: Different organizations, institutions and individuals of Lakhimpur have been extending their helping hand to the needy people who are adversely affected by the ongoing lockdown. Jiban Rajkhowa, the State general secretary of All Assam Unemployed Association, and his wife Rupa Chetiya, who is a teacher by profession, distributed food items among over 100 needy families living under Naoboicha area. The duo distributed rice, dal and other essential commodities among them. Further, they appealed to them to stay at home in order to prevent the spread of COVID-19 pandemic.
Upper Division Clerk of Lakhimpur District Public Relation Office, Atul Dutta also gave food items to 10 lockdown-hit families living at Chamuagaon. Similarly, employee of Lakhimpur District Agriculture office, Gopal Hazarika distributed food items among 10 needy families living at Bormuriya Tiniali and Chapori Gaon.
Among such generous persons, a teacher under Dhakuakhana subdivision has attracted the attention of the conscious citizens. This teacher named Manoj Kumar Pegu, who works in Baghmora LP School, distributed food items among 200 families in association with the members of Borshamukh Mising Students’ Union on the day of Goru Bihu. By investing the whole amount of his one month’s salary, the teacher gave 3 kg rice, along with dal, sugar, salt, soaps and other essential commodities to each of the 200 families headed by differently-able persons, widows and poor people under Borshamukh Gaon Panchayat of Dhakuakhana subdivision.
