MANGALDAI: “Orunodaya stands for rising sun and with the introduction of the novel scheme Orunodoi, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma is ushering a new dawn in the women empowerment in Assam. ‘Nari Vandana’ is the main motto of the BJP-led government both at the Centre and in Assam and this Orunodoi scheme is one of the glaring examples of it,” said Mangaldai Parliamentarian Dilip Saikia while addressing a jam-packed audience of more than 10,000 women mostly from the rural areas at Mangaldai College field on Thursday. The district administration of Darrang organized this function to mark the ceremonial distribution of certificates to the selected beneficiaries under Orunodoi 2.0 in the Darrang district.
Agriculture Minister Atul Bora taking part in the function recalled the participation of women in the historic six-year long Assam Movement and described the role of women as the driving force of the Assam Movement.
Legislators Dr Paramananda Rajbongshi of Sipajhar and Durga Das Boro of Kalaigaon also addressed the function. Significantly, Congress legislator of Mangaldai, Basanta Das also attended the function. Earlier in his welcome speech, District Commissioner Munindra Nath Ngatey spoke in detail about the scheme Orunodoi 2.0.
NAGAON: State Health Minister Keshab Mahanta on Thursday inaugurated the ceremonial distribution of Orunodoi cards under Orunodoi 2.0 scheme sponsored by the State Government among the beneficiaries of the district at a function held at Nagaon Nehrubali.
The minister distributed a total of 12 Orunodoi cards among the beneficiaries leaving the rest of the cards to the district administration to distribute in the district in the days to come. While addressing the occasion, the minister asserted that the names of 50,624 beneficiaries were nominated under Orunodoi 2.0 scheme in the district. Earlier, over 1,03,261 beneficiaries were getting benefits under Orunodoi 1.0 scheme in the Nagaon district, he added. In his speech, Mahanta also highlighted various schemes sponsored by the Himanta Biswa Sarma-led State Government for the empowerment of women in the State.
Local MLA Rupak Sarma, Barhampur BJP MLA Jitu Goswami, Raha MLA Sashi Kanta Das, District Commissioner Narendra Kr Shah, and others were present in the programme. Over 10,000 women beneficiaries from the district attended the programme.
BONGAIGAON: Assam Housing and Urban Affairs and Irrigation Minister Ashok Singhal marked a significant milestone on Thursday by officially launching the distribution of Orunodoi cards under the ‘Orunodoi 2.0’ scheme in Bongaigaon. Speaking at a special ceremony held at the North Bongaigaon Stadium, Minister Singhal highlighted the Assam government’s commitment to strengthening the economic foundation of its people, particularly through women’s empowerment. Under the dynamic leadership of Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma, the Arunodoi scheme has witnessed a remarkable increase in assistance from Rs 830 to Rs 1,250, specifically to support disadvantaged women. With an astounding 17,410 beneficiaries in the district, the program aims to uplift those in need. The distribution of Arunodoi cards was initiated by a state government minister, accompanied by District Commissioners and MLAs. Minister Singhal emphasized that the Orunodoi Scheme, a visionary initiative by Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma, has substantially improved the quality of life for women in Assam by addressing their monthly nutritional and medical needs.
