NAGAON: Bank of Maharashtra, Kolkata zone organized an outreach program exclusively for Self Help Groups (SHG) at Nagaon under the guidance of AB Vijayakumar, Executive Director, Bank of Maharashtra. Sanjay Rudra, General Manager, Corporate Credit, Bank of Maharashtra & Dilip Kumar Raulo, Zonal Manager, Bank of Maharashtra Kolkata Zone were also present.
Vijayakumar, Executive Director, addressed the gathering where he guided the SHGs and explained them cardinal principles of Panchsutra like regular meeting, regular saving, internal lending, regular repayment and accounting. Vijayakumar highlighted various government initiatives towards the uplift of the poor, including PM SVANidhi scheme devised for street vendors, specific scheme of the bank for financing Self Help Groups and various products under Stand-up India Scheme.
Vijayakumar opined, PM SVANidhi Scheme has changed the lives of lakhs of street vendors by freeing them from the clutches of local money lenders. SHG financing has helped in emancipation of the household women from four walls of the house to venture into micro/agri allied activities to make themselves self-reliant. He further asserted, Stand-Up India scheme has reformed the mind-set of the today's youth to be future entrepreneurs by taking up start-ups and obliterating the stereotype conviction of vying for a job, stated a press release.
