TINSUKIA: In his maiden visit to Tinsukia on Saturday, Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma, after assessing the COVID scenario in the district at the DC's office, proposed for imposition of curfew from 12 noon from Monday after 150-200 positive cases were being reported from the district.
An oxygen generation unit will be installed at Tinsukia Civil Hospital, he announced. Expressing concern over the spurt of infection in tea garden areas, Dr Sarma stated that containment zones would be created in affected gardens and tea workers along with BPL families in containment zones would be suitably taken care of, notification of which would be issued on Monday. He was optimistic that the COVID status would improve in another 10 days. Talking to media at the Civil Hospital premises, Dr Sarma stated that number of RT PCR would be increased to 500 daily and number of COVID ICU beds would be enhanced from existing 15 to 20 with vaccination of 25,000 people per week.
