DOOMDOOMA: A Paddy Procurement Centre (PPC) was inaugurated in Kakpathar in Tinsukia district on Wednesday. The Paddy Procurement Center (PPC) was inaugurated by the Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Tinsukia district Narsingh Pawar for the year 2022-23. The inauguration ceremony was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Manjit Barkakati, Deputy Director, Food and Civil Supplies Department, Jayanta Mahanta, Zonal Manager, Food Corporation of India (FCI) Sandipan Barthakur, Tinsukia District Agriculture Officer Tapan Neog and Agricultural Development Officer of Kakpather Agricultural Circle, Graphie Marang.
In the inaugural function of the paddy procurement centre, the farmers were urged to sell their paddy at the Minimum Support Price (MSP) price fixed by the government so as to make more profit and enhance their production. The farmers were further asked to contact the officers involved in the paddy procurement centres or departmental offices if they encounter any difficulties in selling their paddy. Another two PPCs were already opened at Panitola and Makum in Tinsukia district. The target for Tinsukia District was fixed to procure 8,500 metric tonnes of paddy at the rate of Rs 2,040 per quintal.
