BONGAIGAON: Soon after initiating the distribution of paddy seedlings in Kajalgaon Sadar subdivision, the Chirang district agriculture department has also started distribution of paddy seedlings among the flood-affected farmers of Bijni civil subdivision under RKVY (RAFTAR) Disaster Management 2020-21 on Thursday.
On the occasion, Bijni Assistant Commissioner Babul Baishya ceremonially distributed a total of 60 bundles of paddy seedlings among the flood-affected farmers in a programme held at Ulubari Eri Concentration Centre under the aegis of Ulubari Agriculture Development Officer Circle.
Speaking before the farmers, Assistant Commissioner Baishya said that this centrally sponsored flagship scheme would definitely help the flood-affected farmers in this hard time.
District Agriculture Officer (ADO) Amrit Lal Narzary requested the flood-affected farmers, who are genuinely facing problem due to shortage of seedlings, to contact the district and subdivisional-level agriculture officials for free distribution of rice seedlings during this cropping season.
The programme, among others, was attended by Senior Agriculture Development Officers Burlungbuthur Narzary, Manashi Baruah, Rabin Das and other officials of the agriculture department.
