DOOMDOOMA: Padma Shri awardee Jhumoir Samrat Dula Manki was accorded a warm felicitation by Assam Tea Tribes Students' Association (ATTSA), Doomdooma Regional Committee at Doomdooma Town field on Monday. A colourful procession led by a team of Jhumoir dance performers was taken out through the main thoroughfare of the town. Prior to that he was felicitated at Dibrugarh Mohanbati Airport by a 20 member team led by Dr Amorjit Saikia, Principal, Bir Raghav Moran Government Model College, Doomdooma. He was also felicitated by different persons and organisations on way from Dibrugarh airport to Doomdooma at different places like Chabua, Lahoal, Panitola and Tinsukia. In the felicitation meeting Padma Shri Dulal Manki expressed his gratitude to the people of Doomdooma and adjoining areas and acknowledged his meeting with President Ram Nath Kovind and Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Manki said Prime Minister Modi assured him of all help for the development of the culture of the tea-tribes community. Jhumoir Guru Manki took pride in declaring that Jhumoir dance and songs now received world recognition. The meeting was attended by ATTSA General Secretary Ananta Nayak, artiste Mrityunjay Karmakar, former president of All Moran Students' Union (AMSU) and Vice- President Assam Football Association (AFA) Arun Jyoti Moran, Journalist Dhiren Deka and representatives of AASU, AMSU, AASAA, Jatiya Maha Sabha, Doomdooma Byabashayi Santha and office bearers and members of ATTSA.
