DEMOW: Manoj Nath, a resident of Doomor Dolong Primary Heath Sub-Centre area near Demow as well as a CRPF jawan was suffering from fever and was kept in the isolation ward in Demow Model Hospital on Monday. Before lockdown Manoj Nath had travelled to Delhi and various places which he informed to Dr Rupam Borkotoky, Deputy Superintendent of Demow Model Hospital.
However, the swab sample of Manoj Nath was sent to ICMR Laboratory at Lahowal on Monday. Dr Rupam Borkotoky informed that the swab sample of Manoj Nath had tested negative.
On the other hand, according to sources, after Manoj Nath was kept in the isolation ward in Demow Model Hospital, a chaotic situation took place. The patient was suffering from fever and it was suspected that he was suffering from coronavirus. There was fear and apprehension among the people and on Tuesday morning, the pharmacies of Demow were closed. Indica Gogoi, Demow Circle Officer, and Gauri Priya Deori, Assistant Commissioner of Sivasagar district, reached the area and took stock of the situation and opened the pharmacies. After an investigation, Indica Gogoi lodged an FIR in Demow Police against the owner of a pharmacy, Manuranjan Konwar who had allegedly asked all pharmacies in Demow to remain closed. On the basis of the FIR, the Demow Police held Manuranjan Konwar but in the evening he was released on bail.
