BONGAIGAON: "There is a feeling of insecurity among the common people under the rule of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government in India. People do not dare to speak a work today. This situation has been created by the BJP to rule over the common people," said Ashok Gehlot, Chief Minister of Rajasthan, on Thursday in Bongaigaon at a public meeting while campaigning for Congress candidate of Bongaigaon, Sankar Prasad Rai. He said that only the Congress party had experience to govern democratically.
Ashok Gehlot visited Assam on Thursday and addressed public meetings in several places. In Bongaigaon, he is accompanied by Pradip Yadav, central Congress committee member, Sankar Prasad Ray, Congress candidate from Bongaigaon, Rana Goswami, former MLA from Jorhat and many other leaders.
Addressing the mass gathering, Sankar Prasad Rai said that Bongaigaon never saw development during the tenure of Phani Bhusan Choudhury. "He represented this constituency for 35 years but did nothing for the people of Bongaigaon. But we are determined to work for the people and hence, people of Bongaigaon will elect me this time," he said.
