PHE Department Minister Jayanta Mallabaruah reviews Jal Jeevan Mission, Swachh Bharat Mission

Assam Minister for Public Health Engineering Department, Jayanta Mallabaruah chaired a meeting on Friday with all the officials of PHE department, Panchayat and Rural Development department and DWSM and took details of the implementation of the schemes of Jal Jeevan Mission and Swachh Bharat Abhiyan in Dima Hasao district.

HAFLONG: Assam Minister for Public Health Engineering Department, Jayanta Mallabaruah chaired a meeting on Friday with all the officials of PHE department, Panchayat and Rural Development department and District Water and Sanitation Mission (DWSM) and took details of the implementation of the schemes of Jal Jeevan Mission and Swachh Bharat Abhiyan in Dima Hasao district.

Chief Executive Member of Dima Hasao Autonomous Council Debolal Gorlosa, Assam Minister for Sports & Youth Welfare etc Nandita Gorlosa and Member of Parliament Horen Sing Bey were also present during the meeting.

The minister reviewed various problems faced during implementation of the schemes in the different areas of the district. He stressed that those places which are affected due to lack of drinking water, these schemes should be implemented and in case of issues, measures should be taken to solve them. He also directed the officials to complete the work within a specified time so that according to this ambitious scheme of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the entire people of rural areas can get clean drinking water through water taps.

Addressing the media on the issue, Minister Barua thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his immense contribution in providing clean water to every household in Dima Hasao district. He also mentioned that the problem of urban drinking water in Haflong city would be solved through Amrut (AMRUT) scheme under the leadership of Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma. He added that Dima Hasao district has been the only district of Assam to have won the ODF Plus award and has presented a special picture in the field of cleanliness in a very beautiful way. The Minister said that work is going on in full swing to provide clean drinking water to every household, especially in rural areas by 2024, despite all the bottlenecks of transport in the hill districts. He also urged the members of the Autonomous Council to take the works forward with more interest keeping in view the drinking water facilities of the people in their respective fields.

CEM Debolal Gorlosa spoke briefly about the ground reality during implementation and challenges. Lauding the efforts of the officials and people involved he said that this dream of the Prime Minister should whole heartedly be implemented which is but for the benefit of the people. He spoke on how most of the interior villages have benefitted with clean drinking water through this scheme.

Others who spoke were Minister Nandita Gorlosa, MP Horen Sing Bey and MD , JJM, Assam Kailash Kartik. The meeting was attended by chairperson of Dima Hasao Autonomous Council Ranu Langthasa, Executive Members of PHE Department Amendu Hojai and Projit Hojai, other EMs and Council members and PS, DC and departmental officials.
