HOJAI: A two-day long photo exhibition and awareness programme was organized at Hojai Girls’ College, Hojai, by the Central Bureau of Communication (CBC), Regional office, Guwahati.

The exhibition aimed to raise awareness among the youth about the sacrifices made by the Freedom fighters of the nation and the government’s schemes and initiatives over the past 9 years. The exhibition showcased over 40 panels dedicated to the freedom fighters of Northeast India, as well as the achievements of the last 9 years in terms of Seva, Sushasan, and Garib Kalyan.

Inaugurating the exhibition, the chief guest, Lachit Das, I/c Hojaiadministration, expressed the belief that the youth should follow Gandhi’s principle. He gave examples of freedom fighter of Assam who declined the pension, stating that their duty towards the nation’s freedom superseded any personal remuneration. He urged the youth to be inspired by these principles and to prioritize the nation over self.

Addressing the students, Jane Namchu, Additional Director General, NE Zone, Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, emphasized the importance of the event and its role in educating the new generation about the nation’s freedom struggle. She mentioned that the freedom the country enjoys today is a result of the bravery and sacrifice of unsung heroes of the Independence movement.

Present at the inaugural ceremony were Jayanta Borah, ADC, Hojai, and Pradeep Hazarika, Principal, Hojai Girls’ College. The programme saw participation of over 600 students of Hojai Girls’ College. Over the course of the two-day exhibition, various competitions, including an open quiz, art competition, and patriotic singing competition will be organized for the participating students, stated a press release.
