NAGAON: Pappu Petel, a professional photographer and a photo journalist of the town, was felicitated by a slew of local organizations here at Nagaon town on Sunday for his unbelievable journey on foot to Kedarnath temple from Nagaon.

The photo journalist started his over 2,700-kilometre-long pedal journey on June 19 from Krishna Ashram Shiv Mandir, Nagaon and reached his destination - Kedarnath temple on September 18. When he reached Bebejia, on the outskirts of his native town on Sunday morning after completing his 92-day journey on foot, thousands of devotees from several organizations, including Nagaon Parashuram Somaj, welcomed him on his way back to his home town there and also took him towards Nagaon Krishna Ashram Shiv Mandir with a colourful procession. The photo journalist was felicitated by the devotees of Nagaon Krishna Ashram Shiv Mandir as well as Parashuram Somaj, Nagaon.

Meanwhile, Pappu Petel was felicitated by Nagaon Lions Club at its office in the town. Rupranjan Das, president of Nagaon Lions Club, felicitated the photo journalist with a gamosa and appraisal letter in presence of senior members of the club like Biswajit Mahanta, Gursharan Singh, Pralay Saha, Saranga Ballabh Goswami, Mulchand Agarwal, Mohabir Agarwal, Monika Saha, Jogal Kishore Agarwal etc.

While speaking to this correspondent here this afternoon, Pappu Petel said he was overwhelmed with the love and affection showed by the people here. “Being an ordinary man, I am really surprised to witness such spontaneous love and blessings of the people during my troublesome pedal journey towards Kedarnath temple,” he said.
