The State Water Resources as well as Information and Public Relations minister Pijush Hazarika on Saturday distributed certificates and cheques containing of Rs 25,000 each among 771 Bihu dancers as well as other drummers of the district who participated in the mega traditional Bihu dance at a single venue at Guwahati Sarusajai stadium.

NAGAON: The State Water Resources as well as Information and Public Relations minister Pijush Hazarika on Saturday distributed certificates and cheques containing of Rs 25,000 each among 771 Bihu dancers as well as other drummers of the district who participated in the mega traditional Bihu dance at a single venue at Guwahati Sarusajai stadium.

The programme was organized at Nagaon police reserve auditorium here by Department of State Cultural Affairs in association with district administration, Nagaon.

Senior BJP leader and former Union Minister for State Railway Rajen Gohain, local BJP MLA Rupak Sarma, Barhampur BJP MLA Jitu Goswami, Raha MLA Sashi Kanta Das and Lumding MLA Sivu Mishra, DC, Nagaon Narendra Kr Shah, SP Navaneet Mahanta and other senior officials from district administration as well as Nagaon Zila Parishad and Nagaon municipality board were present during the distribution programme. While addressing the occasion, minister Pijush Hazarika said that the mega traditional Bihu dance programme organized under special pursuance of Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma got a breakthrough and proclaimed the global recognition for the Assamese traditional Bihu dance.

Bongaigaon: Minister for Health and Family Welfare Keshab Mahanta distributed certificates and remunerations to Bihu artistes of Bongaigaon district who participated in the Mega Bihu event held at Sarusajai Stadium, Guwahati. The programme was held in District Library, Bongaigaon for artistes of Bongaigaon. Minister Mahanta said in his speech that it was Chief Minister’s heartiest wish to place Bihu in Guinness World Record and that was possible only for the Bihu artists’ cooperation. By this event the world was acquainted with Assamese Bihu. Eleven thousands of Artistes from all over Assam took part in one platform. Mahanta urged the artistes to take ahead the art and culture of Assam to the forefront. Phani Bhusan Choudhury, MLA, Bongaigaon LAC was thankful to Himanta Biswa Sarma for the mega bihu event. A total of 105 Bihu artistes from Bongaigaon were offered certificates and remunerations.
