Pijush Hazarika inspects 3 drug rehabilitation centres in Guwahati

GUWAHATI: The Social Justice and Empowerment Minister of Assam, Piyush Hazarika, visited three drug rehabilitation centres in Guwahati on Saturday and inspected the facilities available.

The minister visited the drug rehabilitation centres under the Jeevandan Wellness Foundation, the Redemption Welfare Foundation in Beltola, and the Faith Foundation in Kharghuli. The minister said the residents of the Faith Foundation’s drug rehabilitation centre were overcrowded in the small rooms and issued a strong warning to the owners of the centre. The minister also directed the Director of the Social Justice and Empowerment Department, who also accompanied the minister during his visit, to shift the excess and especially the financially vulnerable inmates of the centre to the government-run drug rehabilitation centres within two days. The minister also directed the owners of all the centres to pay special attention to the cleanliness and regular health check-ups of the inmates.
