Plantation drive ‘Green Doomdooma, Clean Doomdooma’ launched by MLA Durga Bhumij

DOOMDOOMA: Under project ‘Green Doomdooma, Clean Doomdooma’, MLA Durga Bhumij launched a plantation drive with active cooperation of Doomdooma Forest Division in various parts of the town. A decision to this effect was taken in the citizens’ meet held at Doomdooma Sakha Sahitya Sabha Bhaban on August 4. The MLA was assisted by Anuj Kalita, former president of Tinsukia District Journalists’ Association (TDJA), Deben Deka, secretary of Doomdooma Sakha Sahitya Sabha, and Dhiren Deka, president of Assam Science Writers’ Association (ASWA).

Various tree saplings were planted in the roadside in Main Road, Nehru Road, Doomdooma Press Club in JN Deka Road and Doomdooma Sakha Sahitya Sabha Bhaban in Azad Road. MLA Durga Bhumij said that about 5,000 such saplings would be planted in different parts of the town with cooperation of the people to reduce the effect of global warming.
