DOOMDOOMA: Ellora Vigyan Mancha (EVM), Doomdooma branch in its meeting held on Saturday with Arjun Baruah in the chair, resolved to submit memoranda separately to Deputy Commissioner and Superintendent of Police, Tinsukia district, urging them not to allow high decibel crackers in Deepavali as a measure to prevent sound and air pollution.

It further resolved to organize a protest meeting at Gandhi Chowk on November 11 displaying banners/posters against use of such highly polluting crackers. Like before, EVM will celebrate December 10, the birthday of lexicographer Hem Chandra Baruah, as 'Anti- Superstition and Anti-obscurantism day', either at Dirak or at Tongona. On the other hand, it will launch for the first time a drive for sale of books on science on December 6.
