KOKRAJHAR: The joint association of All BTC Non-Deficit Degree College Employees' Association and All BTAD Junior College Employees' Association have submitted memorandum to the Governor of Assam, Prof. Jagadish Mukhi demanding redressal of their genuine grievances.
The president of the All BTC Non-Deficit Degree College Employees' Association, Dhanrajan Lal and general secretary Dr. Jogen Boro said the venture degree colleges and venture junior colleges under Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) were established by the local public of the area to meet the higher education needs of the most backward area but the matter of concern is that these educational institutions are still in a venture Collegestage and the Assam Education (Provincialization of Services of Teachers and Re-organization of Educational Institutions (Amendment) Act, 2018 does not cover the 17 degree colleges and 14 junior colleges of BTC area.
They said the BTC Legislative Assembly introduced a bill titled 'The Bodoland Territorial Council Education (Provincialization of Services of Teachers and Re-Organization of Educational Institutions) Bill, 2017' which was sent to the Governor for his assent but despite this, nothing has happened so far. They also said that State Education and Finance Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma had decided to declare the educational institutions to be provincialized on August 15 on the occasion of Independence Day celebration. The joint associations have urged the Governor of Assam to include the venture degree and junior colleges of BTC region on priority and need basis in 6th schedule BTC area. The leaders of venture degree and junior colleges said there was no ruling political party in the BTC at present and all developmental activities depended on the Governor as he was the head of the 6th schedule administration which has taken over the council administration since April 27.
