TINSUKIA: The Tinsukia Block Congress Committee, in a memorandum to Railway Minister Aswani Vishnaw, urged him to reduce the price of platform ticket at New Tinsukia Station which was increased to Rs 50 per person, keeping in view the difficulties faced by common people. A team of committee members led by vice-president Lalan Pd Gupta submitted the memorandum through the DRM Tinsukia on Wednesday.
The Railways had enhanced the platform ticket price to Rs 50 per person at each 'A' category station in March 2020 to dissuade people from unnecessary crowding on railway platforms during the pandemic. Under NFR, depending upon the category of railway platforms, the pricing of platform tickets varied from Rs 30-Rs 50. A railway source, however, informed that a plan is underway for reversion to original pricing.
