PM Modi Visits Dibrugarh, Inaugurates 7 Cancer Hospital In Assam

On Thursday the Prime Minister inaugurated Cancer Hospital at the AMCH campus in Dibrugarh and virtually inaugurated six other cancer centres across the state.

DIBRUGARH: Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated seven cancer centres in different districts across the state during his daylong visit to Assam. On Thursday PM Modi visited Assam Dibrugarh district and inaugurated Cancer Hospital at the AMCH (Assam Medical College and Hospital) campus. The inauguration of 6 other cancer hospitals in different parts of Assam was virtually done by the prime minister from the AMCH campus on Thursday. Apart from the one in AMCH of Dibrugarh, other cancer centres inaugurated by PM Modi are Jorhat cancer centre, Tezpur cancer centre, Lakhimpur cancer centre, Barpeta cancer centre, Kokrajhar cancer centre and Darrang cancer centre. Notably, PM Modi will also lay the foundation stone for another 7 cancer centres that will be established in Sivasagar, Dhubri, Tinsukia, Goalpara, Golaghat, Nagaon and Nalbari districts of Assam. During the inauguration event, the Prime Minister said that 7 new cancer hospitals are now opened in Assam and there was a time when one hospital built in 7 years was a big thing to celebrate. He added times have changed and three more cancer centres will be available for the service of the citizens within a few months. PM Modi further mentioned that though the hospitals are ready for service he will be happy if these new hospitals remain empty as he prays for the better health of the people. The PM also informed that the BJP government has also given importance to preventive healthcare with cleanliness, fitness and yoga. Assam Chief Minister Himanta took to Twitter to extend heartfelt gratitude to the Prime Minister on behalf of the people of Assam for inaugurating the cancer hospitals in the state. He added that the centre will assist in the process of carrying forward the mission of the Assam government to take cancer care to the remotest regions across the state. Apart from CM Sarma, the Governor of Assam Jagdish Mukhi and Union Minister of Shipping Sarbananda Sonowal were also present at the event in Dibrugarh.
