PNB Hojai branch manager commits suicide

Hojai: The branch manager of Punjab National Bank, Hojai branch, Mridul Das committed suicide. He was found hanging at his rented house in Hojai's Gobindpally on Tuesday.

The 32-year-old branch manager hailed from Shillong. The officer-in-charge of Hojai police station, Gautam Kumar said that the bank staff from PNB, Hojai approached the police to enquire as the manager didn't go to the bank on Tuesday and didn't respond to any of their calls while his house was locked.

Accordingly, a team of police along with the bank staff visited the residence of the bank manager and found him hanging from the ceiling.

The OC said, "As per prima facie investigation, it seems to be a case of suicide and only after a proper investigation, we will be able to come to a conclusion."

The police has taken the deceased's body in their custody. The body has been sent to Bhogeswari Phukanani Hospital in Nagaon for post-mortem.

Further investigation of the case is going on.
