BISWANATH CHARIALI: Zakir Hussain, a suspected poacher, was injured in police firing in the wee hours on Monday at Biswanath Ghat under Biswanath Chariali Police Station in Biswanath district. Nabin Singh, Superintendent of Police, Biswanath informed media persons. He was arrested two days ago from Juria in Nagaon. The poacher reportedly tried to escape from police custody while he was leading a police team to recover arms hidden somewhere in the area. The poacher, Zakir, was an associate of Nalku who had already died. The poacher was shot in the leg in the encounter. The injured poacher was rushed to Tezpur Medical College Hospital (TMCH). Zakir Hussain hails from Bhojmari, Tewaripal under Sootea police station in the district.
