GUWAHATI: In
yet another breakthrough the Assam police in Karimganj district has seized 2,30,000
YABA tablets on Friday.
The information shared by the special DGP GP Singh on his Twitter.
He wrote, "#AssamFightsDrugs In yet another big breakthrough @karimganjpolice has seized 2,30,000 YABA tablets in Ratabari PS area today. Our team diligently pursued a tip-off and worked professionally to nab offenders. Kudos Team @assampolice! @CMOfficeAssam #drugs #policing".
Meanwhile,
the chief minister of the state Himanta Biswa Sarma has congratulated the
police.
He wrote on his Twitter, "It is huge @karimganjpolice has a short while ago seized 2,30,000 YABA tablets in Ratabari PS area just now. My congratulations".
Earlier in
Mizoram, In yet another success in its crusade against smuggling activities,
the Serchhip Battalion of 23 Sector Assam Rifles — under the aegis of
Headquarters Inspector General Assam Rifles (East) — recovered 15 cases of
foreign cigarettes in the local market here on September 15. Based on specific
information, the operation was carried out by a joint team of the Assam Rifles
and the Customs Department, Champhai.
The approximate market value of the seized illegal items is Rs 19,50,000. The Customs Department has started further legal proceedings. The ongoing smuggling of drugs is a major cause of concern for Mizoram, especially along the India-Myanmar Border. The Assam Rifles, rightly christened as the 'Sentinels of Northeast', have continued their efforts against the smuggling activities in Mizoram, stated a press release.
