DHUBRI: With only two days left to end the poll campaign for the municipal polls, all political parties are campaigning in full swing.

Four political parties - BJP, Congress and AGP fielded their candidates in 16 wards under Dhubri Municipal Board. BJP and Congress fielded candidates in all the16 wards while AGP in 8 wards. However, even after declaring the valid nomination, the candidature of AGP candidate of ward no 15 was rejected later, so AGP now has 7 candidates in the fray while the number of independent candidates is 8.

BJP is in the fray to retain the power to run the board again for the next five years. Addressing a poll meeting in ward no 4 on Tuesday evening, former BJP State vice-president, Bimal Oswal highlighted the works done by BJP-led board in last five years, and said that the BJP governments at the Centre and the State were carrying on various development activities.

"There is no alternative to BJP, so this time too, the voters of ward no 4 will hopefully turn out in large numbers at the polling booth on March 6 and vote for BJP candidate Rumkee Ghose Biswas ," Oswal said.

Former Dhubri BJP president Dipak Kumar Saha too addressed the meeting and appealed to the voters to cast their valuable votes for the BJP for better development and welfare works in the ward.

Independent candidate Manjuri Sarma from ward no 4 has been campaigning hard and putting up a formidable challenge to the BJP candidate. Congress candidate, Arifa Dewan too has been seen campaigning in the ward.

Meanwhile, BJP State president Bhabesh Kalita addressed several poll meetings and appealed to the voters to vote for BJP candidates for ushering in a new era of socio-economic, cultural and infrastructural development in urban areas.
