Political parties in Lakhimpur declare names of candidates

LAKHIMPUR: In Lakhimpur district, ruling party BJP and opposition party Congress are all set to fight in the upcoming Municipal Board Election to be held on March 6. Both parties on Monday declared the lists of candidates who are to contest in the 21 wards under North Lakhimpur Municipal Boards.

The 21 candidates under NLMB nominated by Lakhimpur District Congress Committee (LDCC), as per approval of Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) are- Pradip Phukan - Ward No. 1, Janmoni Saikia Konwar - Ward No. 2, Bornali Das - Ward No. 3 (A), Chidananda Kaman - Ward No. 3 (B), Lipika Neog Gogoi - Ward No. 4, Bikash Gogoi - Ward No. 5 (A), Indrani Das - Ward No. 5 (B), Mondhar Gogoi - Ward No. 6, Faijur Rahman - Ward No. 7, Hemanta Morol - Ward No. 8, Madhusmita Gogoi Dutta - Ward No. 9, Sumi Dutta - Ward No. 10, Rajesh Das - Ward No. 11, Sarifa Begum - Ward No. 12(A), Rukma Bhuyan - Ward No. 12(B), Ashraful Hussain Hazarika - Ward No. 13, Janmoni Gogoi - Ward No. 14 (A), Imdad Hussain - Ward No. 14(B), Elina Hussain - Ward No. 14 (C) and Heena Rahman - Ward No. 14(D).

On the other hand, ruling party BJP declared the name of 19 candidates under NLMB. The ruling party has given up 2 wards to its alliance party AGP under this civic body. The declared 19 BJP candidates under NLMB are - Pranjal Pratim Dutta - Ward No. 1, Mumtaz Begum - Ward No. 2 (A), Suwola Devi - Ward No. 2(B), Nibedita Dutta - Ward No. 3 (A), Pradip Sonowal - Ward No. 3(B), Pinju Phukan - Ward No. 4, Jayanta Gogoi - Ward No. 5(A), Jyoti Das - Ward No. 5(B), Bhabani Shankar Sharma - Ward No. 6, , Bijit Prashad Shah - Ward No. 8, Mina Das Saha - Ward No. 9, Krishna Dhar Sen - Ward No. 10, Bhaskar Jyoti Kakati - Ward No. 11, Lima Sharma - Ward No. 12 (A), Amrit Gogoi - Ward No. 12(B), Hifzur Rahman Baruah - Ward No. 13, Dipika Gogoi Das - Ward No. 14(A), Prasanta Baruah (Tutu) - Ward No. 14(B), Deboshree Mukharji - Ward No. 14(C).

The 2 AGP candidates who will contest in Municipal Board Election in NLMB are - Amrit Balu - Ward No. 7 and Taslima Begum - Ward No. 14(D). All these declared BJP candidates filed their nomination papers to the Returning Officer on Monday. Lakhimpur MLA and other leaders of the Lakhimpur district BJP were present during the filing of nominations.
