LAKHIMPUR: The polling for the Thengal Kachari Autonomous Council (TKAC) Election, 2022 concluded peacefully in Lakhimpur district on Thursday. The election was conducted in the district for five constituencies under TKAC falling under the district jurisdiction. These constituencies are— No. 16 Bongalmora (East Dikrong ST) constituency, No. 17 Pabho (Laluk ST) constituency, No. 18 Lakhimpur East (Woman ST) constituency, No, 19 Bihpuriya South (ST) constituency and No, 20 Jokaipeluwa-Harmoti (ST) constituency. A total of 15 contestants are in fray for the members of the autonomous council from these five constituencies.

In the district, the polling was conducted at 25 Polling Stations in ballot from 8:00 am and it concluded at 4:00 pm. During the polling process, no untoward incident was reported from any constituency or Polling Station as per information found from District Development Commissioner (DDC) Manoj Kumar Baruah and Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Geetali Duworah.

"The polling for the TKAC Election concluded peacefully in five constituencies under Lakhimpur district. No untoward incident or any complaint was reported from any Polling Station during the polling period. The electors concerned cast their franchise in a free and fair manner to elect their council members", DDC Manoj Kumar Baruah said.

As per report, a total of 1956 electors out of 2427 cast their franchise in No. 16 Bongalmora (East Dikrong ST) constituency with 80.59 per cent turn out while 1418 electors out of 1681 cast their franchise in No. 17 Pabho (Laluk ST) constituency.

On the other hand, 1463 electors out of 1654 cast votes in No. 18 Lakhimpur East (Woman ST) constituency with 88.45 per cent turnout, 1386 electors out of 1652 cast votes in No. 19 Bihpuriya South (ST) constituency with 83.90 per cent turnout while 1653 electors out of 1879 cast their franchise in No, 20 Jokaipeluwa-Harmoti (ST) constituency with 87.97 per cent turnout.

Altogether a total of 7870 electors out of 9293 cast their franchise in the district in the council election concerned with overall 84.69 per cent turnout. The counting of the election will be held on January 24.
