Poshan Abhiyaan Rally Flagged off in Tezpur

Tezpur: Deputy Commissioner Narsing Pawar on Sunday flagged off an awareness rally as part of the month-long Rashtriya Poshti Maah, under the Poshan Abhiyaan flagship programme, being implemented in the district simultaneously with the rest of the country. A large number of Anganwadi workers, helpers, supervisors, CDPOs and other officials of the Social Welfare took part in the rally. CEO of Zilla Parishad, Ramen Malakar, Divisional Programme Officer and i/c DSWO Samsera Hazarka, Assistant Commissioner Namrata Das and heads of various line departments were also present.

A meeting involving various line departments was also held after the rally at the conference hall of the Deputy Commissioner’s office to discuss the various activities that were being carried out in the district as part of the Rashtriya Poshti Maah.

The programme aims to address the issue of malnutrition and improve the nutritional outcomes for children, adolescents, pregnant women and lactating mothers through a targeted approach and convergence. Chairing the meeting, Deputy Commissioner said active participation of various stakeholders and convergence of similar schemes related to nutrition was the need of the hour which would go a long way in addressing the issue of malnutrition plaguing the country. A pledge on nutrition was also administered to all present on the occasion.

BOKO: As part of activities under Social welfare Development, an awareness rally for the Poshan Abhiyaan month was taken out by the Child Development Department, Boko along with ANMs, ASHA workers, Anganwadi workers and supervisors, school students and local public at Boko on Monday.

The awareness rally was taken out to create awareness against diarrhoea and anaemia and to pledge for a malnutrition-free India.

Around 1,000 people gathered, including students of Dakuapara Prathamik Vidyalaya, to take the pledge. It was followed by teaching children about hand washing steps and plantation of saplings within the school campus. Child Development Project Officer (CDPO) of Boko and Bangaon, Rubul Sarma flagged off the rally in the presence of bodybuilder Golap Rabha. The main attraction in the rally was a domestic elephant decorated with instructions of how to meet the nutritional need of the body.
