GOALPARA: The Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana (PMMVY) week and Prime Minister's Overarching Scheme for Holistic Nutrition or POSHAN month, were launched in Goalpara district by Meenakshi Das Nath, Deputy Commissioner, on Wednesday.
The schemes aim to improve nutritional outcomes for children, pregnant women and lactating mothers. A special meeting was also organized in this regard by the District Social Welfare Department (DSW) with the support of district administration at the conference hall of the DC where Meenakshi Das Nath presided over.
"As the scheme aims to provide nutritious food to the economically backward expecting mothers, the right implementation of the scheme is very much necessary," said the DC. She also directed the CDPOs and other social welfare officers to bring an awareness regarding the scheme and to take proactive measures so that not a single eligible beneficiary missed the benefits of the scheme.
AK Rasid Alom, MLA, Haren Das, CEO of Zila Parishad, Rakesh Deka, SDO Sadar and in-charge officer of DSW and Mrinal Deka, ASP, also participated in the function.
