Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Yojana (PMGKY): Bringing smiles in difficult times

Guwahati: The Government of India had announced a pro-poor initiatives under the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Yojana, as part of economic response to Covid-19. As per this Yojana, free LPG refills are to be provided to the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala beneficiaries over the period of 3 months, from April to June 2020.

One of such beneficiary is Shaloni Murmu of Kokrajhar district who got financial assistance under the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana. She is thankful to the Prime Minister for helping them in this difficult time. Similarly another beneficiary Lily Das residing in ward number 7 under Dibrugarh district received a free cylinder under the Ujjwala Yojana. There are many similar beneficiary views coming from various parts of the State where people who are in need are getting the benefits of the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Yojana.

Bhabani Das from Nalbari received Rs 810 against a free LPG cylinder, Ranu Haloi and Damoyonti Basumatary from Japorigog, Guwahati, Minu Gogoi and Purnima Saikia from Jorhat are some beneficieries who expressed their gratitude towards the government for providing them free cylinders.

To provide gas cylinders to the needy people, LPG deliver boys and those working in the supply chain are playing a vital role. When there is nationwide lockdown and the people are staying home to stay safe, LPG delivery boys and all those in the supply chain of LPG are working tirelessly to ensure that clean fuel reaches people directly at their homes.
