DOOMDOOMA: Amid much fanfare and enthusiasm, the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY), phase - II was launched at Basanti hall, Doomdooma recently. Local MLA Rupesh Goala distributed the tools of LPG connection along with necessary documents among the women beneficiaries of the town. It was organised by M/s Allied Gas Services, Doomdooma, the LPG star distributor, at the behest of the Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL) with senior Journalist Arjun Baruah in the chair.

The programme began with lighting of ceremonial lamp by MLA Rupesh Goala who explained the initiative taken by PM Narendra Modi in this regard all over the country. The meeting was attended by Field Officer of IOCL Amit Roy and was addressed by the Proprietor of M/s Allied Gas Services, Er. Sujit Kumar Baruah, Assistant Professors, Doomdooma College, Dr Rumi Khalen and Hiron Baishya Dutta.

In the second phase of PMUY, altogether 39,000 beneficiaries of Tinsukia district will be given free LPG connections while M/s Allied Gas Services will provide free connections to 3,000 such beneficiaries living in Barhapjan and extending up to as far as Dholla under Doomdooma, Talap and Dholla Police Stations.
