Prasanna Kumar Dutta memorial lecture held at his residence Kalpataru Nivas

GAURISAGAR: On the eve of the 15th death anniversary of noted journalist, educationist and pioneer of Modern Dikhowmukh, Prasanna Kumar Dutta’s memorial lecture was held on Friday at his residence Kalpataru Nivas. The function was organized by Prasanna Kumar Dutta Smriti Rakshya Samiti in association with his family and the people of Dikhowmukh. The programme started with lighting of earthen lamp at the samadhi of Prasanna Kumar Dutta lit by Tukheswar Borthakur, former Principal, Gaurisagar Higher Secondary Industrial Institute and former teacher Atul Sadhanidar.

Later, a memorial lecture was held on the topic “The contribution of Prasanna Kumar Dutta towards the social field in Dikhowmukh”. The lecture was conducted by Dr.Ranjit Kumar Baruah, principal of Dikhowmukh College. Prasanta Kumar Neog, former journalist and retired vice principal of Bakota Nemuguri HS school delivered the lecture. Addressing the gathering he highlighted the contribution of Prasanna Kumar Dutta towards building of modern Dikhowmukh in the fields of education, journalism. Neog said that in the world except the valued work and sacrifice nothing is permanent. The birth of Prasanna Kumar Dutta is great fortune for the people of Dikhowmukh area. In the memorial lecture, Podum Kumar Saikia, president of APCU Sivasagar District Committee also spoke a few words about the life and achievement of the noted journalist. A drawing competition was held. Ranjan Borah, Headmaster of Dikhowmukh Janajati High School inaugurated it.
