Goalpara: The Goalpara district administration on Saturday celebrated pre-Republic Day with the children of the 24 no. Budhipara Anganwadi centre under the Krishnai Balijana ICDS project near Agia College.

Deputy Commissioner Varnali Deka and Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) on Social Welfare charge, Gautam Kr. Mazumdar arrived at the centre in the morning and interacted with the kids and their parents as well. They also distributed chocolates and shared different pastries locally made by the Anganwadi staff.

“This particular centre was inaugurated by Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal recently as the model Anganwadi centre. Today we have come to check the activity level of the children and at the same time share some beautiful moments with them. We gifted them the national flag, sweets and chocolates. I am happy to see that the enrolment of the children has increased,” said the Deputy Commissioner.

Clad in their colourful uniform, the children played, danced and attended a khichidi breakfast with the two top-level district administration officers.

ADC Mazumdar also bid farewell to the children and the centre staff as he will be leaving the district soon due to his transfer.

Manindra Adhikary, field investigator of the district social welfare office, and Nilima Devi, Anganwadi supervisor, supervised the programme.
