Preparation for 73rd Independence Day celebration in Golaghat

GOLAGHAT: Along with the nation, Golaghat district administration is also going to celebrate the 73rd Independence Day with a three-day-long programme. To highlight the history of Independence of India, the devotion of the freedom fighters and martyrs from the new generation towards their motherland, the Golaghat district administration has shown keen interest this year. In relation to the Independence Day, on August 13, a cleanliness drive, quize competition, essay writing etc, will be held among the students.
On August 14, from 5 am a programme run for unity, various games among students, alcohol and drugs awarness programme, patrotic song competition will be held at Sati Sadhani Kala Khetra. A peace procession will be taken out from Golaghat Municipality office to Bezbaruah point. In the evening, lamp will be lighted at statue of Mahatm Gandhi, Swahid Kushal Konwar and the statues of freedom fighters.
On August 15, the day’s programme will be started with airing of patriotic songs through public announcement system in the morning which will be followed by prabhat pheri at 5-30 am. At 8-30 am tribute will be paid on the statue of Mahatma Gandhi, Swahid Kushal Konwar, Sankar Baruah. At 9 am the National Flag will be officially hoisted at Golaghat Samannay Khetra by the special guest and police, home guard and students will perform their parade.
After the hoisting of the flag, fruits will be distributed to the patients and new dresses to new born children of Golaghat Kushal Konwar Civil Hospital. A football match will be held at Golaghat stadium between Golaghat District XI and Golaghat district Sports Association. In the evening, candles will be lit.
