DIBRUGARH: Preparations are going on in full swing ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to Dibrugarh to inaugurate the cancer care centre on April 28.

Talking to reporters, Dibrugarh Deputy Commissioner Biswajit Pegu said, "Preparations are going on in full swing. Construction of two helipads is going on in Khanikar and Hilodhari in Dibrugarh. The officials of Dibrugarh district are working hard to make the event a success. Along with PM Modi, other union ministers will also be coming to Dibrugarh."

Meanwhile, the construction of roads is going on in some areas. Speed breakers in Dibrugarh town have been removed ahead of PM Modi's visit. Speaking to The Sentinel, Dibrugarh MLA Prasanta Phukan said, "Our party members are working in tandem to make the event a success. We are very excited to welcome PM Narendra Modi to Dibugarh.

"PM Narendra Modi will inaugurate the Cancer Care Centre in Assam Medical College and Hospital. After that he will address a public gathering in Khanikar field. Our preparations for the public gathering at Khanikar field have been almost finished."

"Security has been tightened and checking is going on. We are working on traffic management. Security has already been deployed in the venue. We are fully prepared," said a police official.
