Preparations underway to celebrate Republic Day in Lakhimpur district

LAKHIMPUR: The Lakhimpur district administration has geared up its preparation to celebrate the upcoming Republic Day. In this regard, the district administration adopted several decisions in a meeting organized in the conference hall of the Deputy Commissioner's office.

District Development Commissioner Manoj Kumar Baruah presided over the meeting wherein detailed discussion was held in view of observing the auspicious occasion smoothly in free and fair environment. In addition to the departmental heads of the district, the meeting was attended by ADC Manorama Morang, Superintendent of Police Bedanta Madhav Rajkhowa, officers of the military and para-military forces, representatives of the senior citizens, freedom fighters, Chambers of Commerce, sport associations, students' union, heads of the schools and colleges. In the meeting, due responsibilities were shouldered upon the government departments of the district to celebrate the Republic Day in festive environment. The meeting laid emphasis on ensuring tight security in the district in order to avert any kind of untoward incident to be caused by unscrupulous elements. The District Development Commissioner directed the departmental heads of the district to carry out their duties and shouldered responsibilities sincerely for the successful conduct of the event. He also appealed to the citizens of the district to extend their cooperation to celebrate the occasion.

The district administration will held various competitions among the students in addition to the main agenda of the Republic Day. Colourful cultural programme will also be organized. Moreover, the district administration will felicitate the persons of the district who have achieved praiseworthy success in various fields. Fruits and light food items will be distributed among the patients ofi Lakhimpur Medical College and Hospital and the prisoners of the district jail on the occasion.
