GUWAHATI: On the second day of her visit to Assam, President Droupadi Murmu went on a jeep safari inside the central range of the Kaziranga National Park, according to officials. They claimed that as she entered the park from Mihimukh Point, where she witnessed a variety of creatures, including a one-horned rhinoceros, wild buffalo, deer, and birds. 

In the park, Murmu fed elephants as well. On Friday, the President will officially open the two-day "Gaj Utsav-2023" (elephant festival) on the playground of the Kaziranga National Park High School. 

Every year, a celebration called Kaziranga Gaj Utsav is conducted in the national park to support the preservation and protection of Asian elephants. Together, the tourism and forest departments planned it with the intention of drawing attention to and resolving the state's escalating conflict between people and elephants. 

The audience cheers as more than a hundred domesticated Asian elephants compete in a range of activities, such as dance, football, parades, and racing. Gulab Chand Kataria, the governor of Assam, and Himanta Biswa Sarma, the chief minister, will also be there, according to the officials.

 On Friday in the afternoon, Murmu will fly to Guwahati, where she will sign off on the "Mount Kanchenjunga Expedition 2023" and attend the Gauhati High Court's platinum jubilee celebrations that evening. The Chief Justice of India, Justice Dhananjaya Y. Chandrachud, will also be present at the event.

She will fly a sortie on the Sukhoi 30 MKI fighter jet at the Air Force base in Tezpur on Saturday before heading to Delhi. The president had arrived in Assam on Thursday for a three-day tour.

She is the first person belonging to the tribal community and also the second woman after Pratibha Patil to hold the office. She is also the youngest person to occupy the post and the first President born in Independent India.
