GUWAHATI: President Ram Nath Kovind was trolled on Twitter for extending greetings on Bohag Bihu instead of Bhogali Bihu. The tweet was later deleted.

A new corrected tweet reads, "As the Sun enters Capricorn and the weather begins to change, the harvesting season begins in many parts of our country. Greetings and good wishes to fellow citizens as we celebrate Makar Sankranti, Bhogali Bihu, Pongal, Uttarayan and Poush."

Bohag Bihu also known as Rongali Bihu marks the advent of Assamese New Year and is celebrated in April.

Bhogali Bihu also called Magh Bihu is celebrated in mid-January is essentially a harvest festival, which means it is primarily related to agriculture.

Kongali or Kati Bihu observed in October is a pre harvest festival.
